EKON 91 Ltd was established in 1991. In 1996 started the country’s first private installation for synthesis of alkyd resins. 1998 started the production of alkyd and emulsion paints, giving priority to export. 2006 – new factory for paints and plasters, featuring modern production facilities and specialized equipment from the German company Hagemann. The servicing and controlling software is specifically designed by the US company
Honeywell. In 2008 – implemented and integrated quality management system: ISO 9001: 2008, ISO 14001: 2005 and OHSAS 18001: 2007. EKON uses raw materials from companies like CLARIANT, BASF, BAYER, KEMIRA, PERSTORP, DOW, BYK etc., which ensure the high quality of the final product. In the coming years EKON became the second biggest exporter of paints and alkyd resins from Bulgaria.
